Library Events: “A Universe of Stories,” June 10, 14, and 16

Can you read nine books this summer? Pick up a reading log starting June 9 and challenge your friends to a summer of good reading.

Enjoy a movie marathon on Monday, June 10. Staff will show these outer space thrillers:

– “Forbidden Planet”: 10 a.m. In this 1956 film, a starship
crew investigates a planet’s colony only to find two survivors and a deadly secret. Rated G, 98 minutes.

– “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”: Noon. A doctor learns that
his neighbors are being replaced by aliens in this 1956 film. Not rated, 80 minutes.

– “Avengers: Infinity War”: 2 p.m. The superheroes and their
allies unite to defeat the evil Thanos. Rated PG-13, 149 minutes.

Embroider a constellation at 10 a.m. Friday, June 14.

Learn basic embroidery skills, discover the universe, and improve your manual dexterity while you create a constellation sampler. Participants may choose from a selection of constellations and take their project home when they’re done. Supplies will be provided. Advance registration is required; call 386-257-6036, option 4.

Take the Solar System Challenge.

Starting June 16, complete a task for each of the eight planets plus Pluto. Once you have completed the tasks, turn in your challenge log to receive a prize, while supplies last.
